Wilted lettuce salad
It's a classic favorite that's easy to prepare and packed with flavor. What makes it special is the warm, tangy dressing that slightly wilts the lettuce, giving it a unique texture and flavor.
Instructions
Place the lettuce in a large salad bowl. Add the sliced green onions, mushrooms, and cherry tomatoes, if using.
In a skillet, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove from heat and place on a paper towel to drain excess grease.
In a small saucepan, combine the apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and water. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Once boiling, reduce heat and simmer for 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the olive oil until well combined.
Pour the warm dressing over the lettuce mixture. Add the cooked bacon. Toss the salad gently to ensure even distribution of the dressing and ingredients.
Serve immediately. Wilted lettuce salad is best enjoyed right away while the dressing is still warm.
Notes
Use your favorite lettuce Romaine, Butter, or any leafy green. Rinse the lettuce thoroughly under cold water to remove any dirt. Pat the leaves dry with a clean towel or use a salad spinner. Tear the lettuce into bite-sized pieces or chop it if you prefer.
Variations
