Vietnamese beef salad (bò lúc lắc)
Bò lúc lắc, also known as "shaking beef," is a delicious and healthy beef salad that combines tender beef, fresh vegetables, and a savory dressing.
Ingredients
Instructions
In a bowl combine soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, 2 cloves of garlic, half the sugar and black pepper. Add the beef and make sure they are coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (better 2-3 hours) to allow the flavours to infuse.
In a small bowl whisk together lime juice, rice vinegar, sugar, 2 tsp fish sauce and the other garlic. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
In a large serving dish or individual plates place salad leaves, cucumber slices, cucumber slices, red onion and tomato slices.
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and shake the pan to make sure they are cooked evenly. Cook for 5-7 minutes or until browned and cooked to your liking. Remove from heat.
Pour the salad dressing over the salad or serve on the side. Add the cooked beef into the salad and toss gently with the greens and vegetables.
Notes
Serve in individual bowls or plates for a nice presentation. Add a lime wedge on the side for extra zing and color.
Serve with jasmine rice or crusty bread for a more substantial meal.
Variations
Add bell pepper to the salad, cut into rings or strips.
For some heat, add red chili, finely chopped, to the dressing or marinade.
