Date squares

A healthy variation of a fruit snack bar. Dates are naturally sweet and a good source of fiber.

Ingredients

1 tablespoon butter
1 cup dates (pitted and chopped)
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon flour (slef raising flour)
1 egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350° F.
  2. Grease or line a 7-inch tin.
  3. In a medium size pan, melt the butter. Remove from the heat.
  4. Add sugar, flour, dates and egg. Mix.
  5. Place the mixture in the prepared tin, pressing down.
  6. Cook in the middle rack for 30-35 minutes.
  7. Let it cool slightly and cut into squares while still warm.

4 servings

Notes

No need to make it squares. Cut it into other shapes: triangles, finger style...
