BBQ Brisket

A slightly different take on a classic North American dish.

Ingredients

2 teaspoons brown sugar
3 onion (sliced and sauteed)
5 potato (optional, cut in quarters)
1 cup liquid (ginger ale)
1 cup sauce (barbecue sauce, your favorite)
5 pounds beef (beef brisket, seasoned to taste)
  cooking fat (to sear the meat)

Instructions

Heat the oven to 350º F.

Sear the brisket quickly in a pan, while mixing the ginger ale, BBQ sauce and brown sugar in a bowl.

Place the the potatoes, if using, then the onions in a roasting tray with the brisket on top and cover with the sauce.

Cover the tray and cook for 3 hours in the oven set at 350º F.

When done, remove the brisket from the oven, let it rest covered in foil. Slice before serving.

Notes

Serve with roast potatoes, roasted with the meat, mashed potatoes, without butter or milk, or boilde potatoes.

Rub the meat with ground pepper and salt or use any herb and spice rub you like.

Make a sauce withe the liquid and drippings remaining in the tray.
