Dumplings

Doughy pieces served in soups and stews. Dumplings are usually boiled in the broth or sauce,  but dumplings can also be cooked apart and added to the soup at the end.

Ingredients

1 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1⁄2 teaspoon salt
1⁄2 cup liquid (milk or water)

Instructions

Sift flour and baking powder together into a bowl. Stir in liquid until a dough forms.

Have broth, soup or water boiling. 

Scoop into rounded balls with a wet spoon and drop into boiling broth. 

Cook for 10 minutes, cover and simmer for another 10 minutes.

Serve warm with the soup.

Notes

These are simple dumplings for soups and soups, boiled in the broth or sauce.

Dumplings can be boiled, steamed, fried or baked.

Variations

The dumplings could be filled with vegetables, fish or meat before cooking them. It is preferable that the filling is already cooked.
