Winter jam

Winter jam will sweeten and brighten cold winter days. Try the recipe; it is easy to prepare.

Ingredients

2 apple (medium, chopped but not peeled nor cored)
1⁄2 cup water
3 1⁄2 cups sugar
2 tablespoons lemon juice (natural or bottled)
12 ounces cranberry (usually one bag, fresh or frozen)
1 can pineapple (crushed pineapple, with juice, 8 oz can)

Instructions

  1. Combine the cranberries, apples and water in an 8 qt saucepan. Cook about 5 minutes over a high heat, should thicken slightly. Be sure to stir the mix constantly.
  2. Remove the pan from the heat and process the mix though a food mill or sieve to remove all the peels, skins and seeds. Place the remaining liquid back into the pan and add the remaining ingredients; bringing it back to a boil over a high heat.
  3. Continue to stir constantly. In about 4-6 minutes the liquid should be clear and thick. And ready to place in jars.
