Squid

How long do frozen fresh squids stay safe to eat?

From: Hobo_panda

  • Do not keep frozen seafood for more than 6 months. Even when frozen, any food looses color, texture and flavor.
  • Once defrosted, cook it within 24 hours, as you would with fresh squid.
  • You can freeze again leftover cooked squid with no problem.
  • Do not freeze again raw squid once thawed for the obvious safety reasons. This is not safe. Fish and seafood spoils very quickly, often there is a telling smell, but sometimes, the smell is not there; especially if it has been previously frozen, and it had some treatment to better stand the process. This is like playing Russian roulette with your health.
