Pecan pie

Pecan pie is often served at traditional North American celebrations such as Thanksgiving.

Ingredients

3 egg
1 cup sugar (granulated white sugar)
1 cup corn syrup (light or dark)
1 pinch salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup pecan nuts (pecan halves)
1 pie crust (9 inch crust, unbaked)
  cream (optional, whipped cream to serve)

Instructions

Heat oven to 300º F.

Beat eggs and white sugar until thickened. Add corn syrup, salt and vanilla. Blend well. This is the filling.

Arrange pecan halves in the bottom of the pie crust. Pour the filling over the pecans.

Bake in the oven until the filling is set, 55-60 minutes.

Remove from the oven and let it cool down.

Serve pecan pie with whipped cream.

Notes

Don´t overfill the crust even if there is excess filling. The filling rises and puffs while cooking. The pecans will rise to the top of the pie forming a crusted layer.
