Marzipan filled pears

A sweet dessert that tastes like cake but it is a little healthier because of the fruit.

Ingredients

2 pear (large, peeled and halved)
1 c wine (fruity white wine)
1⁄2 t ajwain
1⁄4 lb marzipan
3 T liquor (Cointreau)
1 T pistachios (shelled)

Instructions

  1. Place wine, lemon juice, coriander seeds and maple syrup in a pan and bring to the boil. Add the pear halves and simmer for 8-10 minutes. Remove the pears. Keep the liquid.
  2. Mix marzipan and Cointreau. Fill the cavity in the pear halves with this mixture. Cook under the broiler for 5 minutes.
  3. Mix cornstarch with a little water and add to the liquid in the pan. Incorporate the chopped pistachios and simmer until it has thickened.
  4. Place 1 pear piece on each plate, pour some sauce over.

Notes

A serving is one half pear.

Vanilla ice cream is a good accompaniment to this dessert, if you want to add a little extra. Prepare soma sabayon and serve marzipan filled pears with two sauces.
