Homemade electrolyte drink

One of the most hydrating drinks is skim milk, but it is not convenient to carry in hot weather. Taking an electrolyte drink with you would be easier, why not homemade?

Ingredients

4 c water
1⁄2 c orange juice (fresh orange juice, about 2 oranges)
1⁄4 c lemon juice (1-2 lemons)
2 T honey (or maple syrup. for a natural sweetener)
1⁄4 t salt

Instructions

Begin by juicing your oranges and lemons. Freshly squeezed juice is key to capturing those vibrant flavors.

In a large pitcher, combine the water, orange juice, and lemon juice. Stir well to blend the citrus flavors evenly.

Add the honey or maple syrup to the mixture. This not only adds sweetness but also provides an additional energy boost. Stir until fully dissolved.

Incorporate the salt into the drink. This essential ingredient helps replace lost electrolytes during exercise or hot weather.

Refrigerate for at least an hour before serving. This allows all the flavors to meld together beautifully. Serve over ice for a refreshing, hydrating experience.

Notes

For most people, a balanced diet and adequate water intake are sufficient to maintain electrolyte levels.

This homemade electrolyte drink may be beneficial during rigorous activities, hot weather or excessive sweating. The fresh citrus juices provide vitamins, while the natural sweeteners give you a gentle energy lift. The added salt is crucial for replenishing the electrolytes lost through sweat, ensuring you stay balanced and energized.
