Yangnyeom sauce

Yangyeom sauce is used to flavor cold noodles, but it can also be used as a dip or seasoning to add flavor to fried dishes like chicken or shrimp.

Ingredients

1⁄2 cup soy sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon sesame seed (toasted and crushed)
1 scallion (sliced thin)
2 cloves garlic (minced)
1⁄2 teaspoon hot pepper sauce (or to taste, pasta gochujang)
1⁄2 teaspoon chili powder (or to taste, gochugaru)
1⁄2 teaspoon honey (or to taste)

Instructions

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl. Let it stand 5-10 minutes and serve.

Notes

To seve later, cover the sauce and refrigerate. Bring the sauce yangyeom out of the fridge and let it stand 5-10 minuts before serving to bring it back to room temperature.

Other spices can be added, such as ground pepper or grated fresh ginger.

Some people make yangyeom sauce by mixing tomato ketchup, gochujang, rice vinegar, strawberry jam, soy sauce, and minced garlic. You can also add a little gochugaru, and honey or maple syrup to give it an even sweeter note.
