Poutine gravy

This gravy goes great with our previously posted cheese poutine recipe.

Ingredients

1⁄4 cup onion (diced)
2 cups broth (warmed, beef broth or beef stock)
1 pinch pepper (freshly ground)
2 tablespoons butter (or beef drippings)

Instructions

In a saucepan heat the beef dripping (or butter) and fry the onions in it until softened.

Stir in the flour for 3 minutes or so, then continue stirring and adding the stock slowly.

Bring to a boil then reduce and simmer for 10-15 minutes.

Towards the end add the sauce and pepper to taste.

Serve this with our cheese poutine or as a gravy substitute with our quick poutine recipe.
