Kale and apple tropical smoothie

This smoothie is a delightful fusion of the earthy flavors of kale and apple with the tropical zest of kiwi and coconut. Kale and kiwi give this smoothie  fresh green hues. 

It's a refreshing drink that not only tastes good but also packs a nutritional punch. Perfect for breakfast or a mid-day pick-me-up.


1 c kale (kale leaves, stems removed and roughly chopped)
1 apple (medium size, cored and chopped)
1⁄2 c kiwi (fresh kiwi, peeled and cut into chunks)
1⁄4 c coconut milk (or coconut water for a lighter version)
1 T chia (optional, for added nutrition)
1 T honey (or agave syrup, adjust to taste)
1⁄2 c water (or a vegetable milk)



Wash and prepare the kale by removing the stems and roughly chopping the leaves.  Core and chop the apple. Peel and chop half a banana. Prepare fresh kiwi chunks.


In a blender, combine the kale, apple, kiwi, coconut milk, honey and chia seeds (if using). Add water or almond milk to adjust the consistency. Blend until smooth. If you prefer a coBlend until smooth. 


Pour the smoothie into a tall glass. Garnish with a slice of kiwi or a sprinkle of chia seeds. Serve immediately.

Use a green apple for a hint of tart flavor.

If you prefer a colder smoothie, blend, add ice cubes, add ice cubes and blend again.

This smoothie is perfect for breakfast, giving you a burst of energy to start your day.

It can also be served as a refreshing drink on a hot day or after a workout.


For more tropical flavor, substitute kiwi with the same amount of pineapple.
