Honey barbecue glaze
Works beautifully on chicken wings, chicken pieces, or pork. This recipe is easy to make with pantry staples.
Ingredients
Instructions
In a small saucepan, combine the honey, barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper (if using). Stir until smooth.
Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Stir frequently to prevent sticking or burning.
Let the glaze simmer for about 8–10 minutes, or until it thickens slightly and coats the back of a spoon.
Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the butter until melted and fully incorporated. This will make the glaze silky and glossy.
Use the glaze. Brush the glaze over the meat during the last 5-10 minutes of baking, grilling, or air frying to avoid burning.
Notes
For a stickier finish, brush the glaze on the meat in multiple layers, letting it caramelize between applications.
Optionally, reserve a small portion of the glaze (before brushing it on raw meat) for dipping.
Store leftover glaze in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week. Reheat gently on the stove or microwave before using.
Variations
Add 2 tablespoons of soy sauce for some umami.
