Apricot dessert

Gamar al deen are made with apricots which are dried and turn into soft sheets, similar to the fruit leather strips. Those gamar al deen sheets are turned into a delicious Sudanese dessert.

Ingredients

  sugar
  rice (pudding rice, short grain rice, boiled)
  water

Instructions

  1. Soak gamar al deen sheets in water until dissolved.
  2. Blend the soaked apricot sheets until smooth.
  3. Place into a saucepan, add custard powder and sugar and heat until the apricot mixture has thickened.
  4. Pour into bowls and serve with plain boiled rice.

Notes

This dessert is also served with Sudanese white cheese which may be difficult to find. Substitute Feta cheese for Sudanese white cheese.
