Fruit custard pie
Choose your favorite fruit form the many options and serve a fruit custard pie when you want something sweet to finish off dinner, or as a treat between meals.
Instructions
Pre-heat oven to 375°F (180°C).
Spread the fruit preserve (jam) over the base of the pie crust.
Distribute fruit pieces over the fruit preserve.
Mix cream and sugar with the beaten eggs, and pour over the fruit.
Place the crust on a baking sheet and bake on the middle rack for 20-25 minutes, until the custard is set.
Sprinkle brown sugar on top of the custard while pie is still hot.
Serve at room temperature, or chilled.
Notes
To prepare an apple custard pie, peel, core, and dice 2-3 medium apples, until you have 1 cup apple pieces, and apricot preserve.
To prepare a banana custard pie, use 1 banana, sliced, and apricot preserve.
To prepare strawberry custard pie, follow this recipe using 1 cup washed and sliced strawberries, and strawberry preserve.
Other combinations:
- Peach custard pie, with canned peach halves, and apricot or peach preserve.
- Mixed berries and raspberry preserve.
- Raspberries and raspberry preerve.
- Blueberries and blueberry preserve.

Jams or preserves? These words usually refer to the same thing. The name depends where you are, it would be fruit jam in American English, and fruit preserve in British English.
Use a 9 inch (22 cm) pie crust.
