Since Christmas is celebrated in so many countries around the world there exists a wide variety of traditional drinks. Whether your preference is for high alcohol content or just a warming liquid, you'll find something in the selections below to lift your holiday spirits.

There are many holiday songs that mention good things to drink. Holiday beverages are the perfect topper for a great dinner or the wake up for morning breakfast. Here are a few holiday drinks to include on your menu.

Salt

Salt brings out the flavor of many foods, destroys the bitterness in some others, and acts as a preservative in many cases. Without salt, food lacks and appetizing and varied taste.

Pepper

Black pepper has a strong, hot, sharp flavor. White pepper is milder.  Green peppercorns are refreshingly spicy. All these are types of pepper, the most used of all spices.

Olives & olive oil

Olives, with their characteristic, slightly acidic flavor, are used as appetizers, in salads, pasta sauces,  pizzas, in robust meat and chicken dishes, with vegetables such as eggplant, tomatoes. Olive oil is used in cooking, salad  dressings and sauces.

Mace & nutmeg

Mace and nutmeg come from the same plant. Mace is the membrane that covers the seed while nutmeg is the actual seed. From the two, nutmeg is considered to be the less delicate.
